For those particularly interested in getting started with remote controlled boats, the first order of business is to choose the kind of boat that you are going to purchase. While remote controlled boats come in four basic types; sail boats, electric boats, nitro-powered boats and gas powered boats. By far the easiest boat for the beginning RC hobbyist is the electronic model.
The Basics of Electric Remote Control Boats
Electric RC Boats (also known as Fast Electric boats) are remote controlled boats that are powered by a battery instead of a fuel-powered engine.
Fast electric rc boats come in a wide variety of styles and sizes. The sizes of electric boats range from toy boats that can be purchased at a model shop or retail outlets to large Fast electric boats which can be over two feet in length. Thanks to their quiet engines and relatively low speeds (as compared to gas and nitro-powered models); electric boats can be used on nearly any local surface where noise ordinances can restrict the use of gas and even of some nitro models. As a result of their wide acceptance, the Fast electric segment of remote controlled boating has been growing exponentially.
Your Electric Remote Control Boat: Purchase vs. Build
Electric remote control boats can be purchased ready-made at the store, or they can be purchased as a kit which you then have to put together before it can be put out on the water. If you like working with your hands you might want to purchase a kit. If, however, you want to get right down to the boating, you may want to purchase a ready-made model.
Regardless of whether you purchase a ready made model or a kit, you can always tweak it later on. There are plenty of hobby stores and websites dedicated to selling the parts needed to increase the power and maneuverability of electric RC boats, indeed there are entire forums dedicated to RC boating where those who are testing out boats or who are adapting boats they already own can compare notes.
How Do Electric Models Run?
The nice thing about electric boats is that they run on batteries, which means you dont have to worry about messy re-fueling. You can use regular AA batteries or can opt for re-chargeable batteries, thus cutting down on your costs. There have been decided improvements in the length of time a boat will run on battery power before it has to be re-charged. With the most up-to-date models unless you are racing your boat at high speeds, a set of batteries can last for most of a day. The one down side to electric rc boats is that one battery low on charge can cause your boat to stop responding. This can be a real problem if the boat is out of retrieval range. Keeping this in mind it is very important to always double check your battery power before you send your boat out on a long run.
So chose your boat wisely, plug your batteries in, and get ready to get going!

The Beginners Guide to the Best RC Boats
The Beginners Guide to the Best RC Boats , run rc boats, http://goarticles.com/article/The-Beginners-Guide-to-the-Best-RC-Boats/4200832/,
Article by Gene Luncinski
If you have never operated a RC boat, it is time that you did. RC Boats are miniature realistic-looking boats that float on water. The only difference between a real boat and remote controlled boat is RC Boats are controlled by remote control.
RC Boats Make a Great Hobby
RC boats have been an all-time favorite hobby for many for a very long time. I can remember one of the largest lakes in Central Park in New York City saturated with RC models. I remember watching on as families would stand at the end of the lake watching their sailboats and race boats propel across the big lake and I always found it fascinating how well these boats handled the water.
Your First RC Boat Purchase
If you are just getting started or would like to get started with RC Boats, the first thing you want to think about is the type of RC model you are going to purchase. Amazon offers a wide-variety of models to choose from. You can buy electric powered boats, mini-sized models; micro-sized models, RC sailboats and some even run on gasoline.
RC Boats Are Priced Inexpensively
RC boats can be purchased pre-built or they can be assembled and range in price from very low to very high. RC models listed on Amazon are incredibly well-priced. For those who are just getting started in the hobby, deciding what type of model to purchase can be a difficult choice. If price is a concern, there are many RC boats that can be purchased inexpensively. Electric powered models are the least expensive and are highly recommended for beginners.
Sailboats Are a Popular Choice For Beginners
One of the most popular choices for beginners is sailboats. Sailboats come equipped with sails and require a certain degree of skill. Beginners can buy sailboats that are specifically manufactured for people who have never handled a sailboat before. What makes sailboats a great choice is that anyone in any age group can learn how to operate a sail boat.
Sailboats are propelled by the wind and can also be equipped with a motor. Beginners want to keep in mind that RC sailboats that are propelled just by the wind have a greater chance of getting stuck out in the water, (be sure bring your fishing rods), so purchasing a RC sailboat that comes equipped with a small motor is good just in case you need to haul the sailboat in. Sailboats can come equipped with rechargeable battery packs or they may not. Beginners really need to consider whether a sailboat is their best choice.
Beginners Also Like High-Speed Boats
Another popular choice for beginners is high-speed models. People looking for a little action will like turbo-charged models. Some of these high-speed race boats can travel up to 25 mph and some faster than that. People who are looking for action-packed fun may want to consider a high-speed race boat over a sailboat because sailboats aren't designed to sail at high velocities.
RC Boats Are Controlled By Remote Controls
No matter what type of model you decide to buy, it is important that you understand that every RC boat is controlled by remote control. Each control comes equipped with two channels and each channel is designed to control a separate function of the model. Getting use to handling a remote control will require some patience and time, but absolutely anyone in any age group can handle a RC model.
Purchasing Your RC Boat
RC boats are a great hobby to get involved with. Beginners who are just getting started should take the time to research all their options before purchasing a RC model. If you are looking for an inexpensive RC boat, you should consider what Amazon has to offer. Amazon offers a wide-selection of RC boats to choose from. Some are for beginners and others not. Whatever boat you choose, you will have countless hours of fun outdoors.

The Complete Guide To Selecting The Best RC Boats For Racing!
If you are into RC boats, then there is only one thing better than a remote control boat - and that's speed. Some of the best RC boats on the market are designed for racing, so it's important to know what you're looking for before you make your purchase.
Conditions
You can spend as little or as much as you want on a remote control boat, and that's the beauty of the hobby. Similarly, as long as you have some sort of body of water around you, you're set. Ideally, when it comes to racing your boat, you want a lake or somewhere else that's not going to give you a lot of movement from the water. This way your boat can reach the highest possible rate of speed.
Construction
You'll need to look for a boat that is made of fiber glass construction. There are RC boats that say they're speed boats made of other construction, but they won't go as fast.
Power Plant
A high speed motor is going to be one of the basics you're going to need to look for. Everything else is great, but if your motor can't handle speed, it doesn't matter what other kinds of bells and whistles your RC boat might have. The kind of motor you want to get is going to be a 550 type.
Many speed boats can get up to speeds of 15 to 20 mph. This is pretty fast, and when you're actually racing, it will feel more like 40 mph. If this isn't fast enough for you, they make nitro starter kits that you can add to your boat. In order to add this, though, you'll need a decent size hull to be able to wire it in.
Look for one that has a water-cooling system. When you're racing, the last thing you want is for your motor to get overheated. Your engine stalls and you lose the race. With a cooling system in place, you can have long, full-throttle runs even in extreme conditions.
Hull
A durable deep V-hull is a must. You can cut turns easily without having to worry about handling issues. So now you can go through obstacles - whether it's part of the race or natural obstacles near the bank. It will also add to wave resistance, so you can race where and when it's convenient for you. When you're racing your RC boat, you'll be in control of what the boat does without it letting you down.
The best RC boats are ones that are fast, giving you full control on the water with great maneuverability. A strong motor and a deep V-hull are some of the basic features. Depending on your budget for your remote control boats, then you can get fancier with rechargeable batteries and such, too, making it easier for you to recharge and race longer.

Miniature boat building can be a relaxing hobby and a great craft at the same time. Skilled builders have the ability to create scaled replicas of any kind of ships and their completed projects usually come out perfect even to the smallest details.
The good thing about model boat building is that you can share the project with someone else, like a father teaching his son how to build small RC boats. But for the first-time builder, it is a must to choose a boat kit suitable to your abilities. It does not really matter what boat you choose but what you have to think about is whether or not you can carry out the intricacies of the project.
The internet is a good source of ideas about the kind of boat models that you can build. The next step is to get all the materials needed for your project. You can go to a hobby store or look for internet sources for everything that you need.
When you reach the building stage, you have to make sure that you have a well-lighted because you will be dealing with small parts. The areas should also be well-ventilated since you are going to use glues and paints whose fumes can suffocate you if you are working in an enclosed space.
To make your boat building more noteworthy, you can choose old models that have historical importance or you can opt for something that you have previously been on. That way, you have a story to tell about the RC boat that you built yourself.
The sense of satisfaction and gratification that you get after project completion is beyond words and it is more than enough reason why thousands of people worldwide have gotten hooked to this hobby. And when you are with a group of people who are controlling RC boats, you will feel the pride knowing that the thing floating in the water and running at every movement you do with the remote control is a product of your labor and craft.

RC Boats - How to Build Your Own
RC Boats - How to Build Your Own , run rc boats, http://goarticles.com/article/RC-Boats-How-to-Build-Your-Own/3641031/,
Article by Robert Darcy
For a good number of RC lovers, the thought of letting a radio controlled boat skim the lake waters is a great way of having fun. Both kids and adults enjoy RC boats as a thrilling and exciting hobby. As a matter of fact, it is considered a universally fun activity for all ages. What makes it even more exciting is getting a chance to build a miniature boat all by yourself.
It is quite understandable why there are people who prefer to take the more challenging yet interesting road of building their own RC boat instead of buying something that is ready to run right out of the box. And when you finally test the boat on the water, you will feel a sense of accomplishment and satisfaction for all the efforts that you have exerted during the construction.
When building your miniature boat, it is highly recommended to follow a plan that has already been used by somebody else you know especially if it is your first attempt at constructing one on your own. You can try making a model that is scaled down based on a plan of a full-sized boat. Or you can also opt to use internet sources, magazines or books that you can easily find anywhere. Be sure to check the clarity of the instructions of the plan because one mistake and you will end up with a boat that will not meet your expectations or, worse, you won't even be able to keep it afloat. Surely, you wouldn't want to deal with a boat that will keep spinning in circles or struggling not to sink.
You have to take note that boat construction is more demanding compared to other projects related to radio controlled stuff, especially when you add boat motor equipment to the equation. Remember that you have to keep the electric equipment away from water contact or you will have to purchase new equipment over and over. This will definitely call for more expenses and it could be frustrating if it happens to you. Therefore, you have to make sure that your boat design will prevent water from getting into the hull by using a waterproof sealant. That way, you will get a chance to enjoy your hand-made boat more.
